Fadiel Adams expected back at Madlanga Commission
Suspended National Coloured Congress MP Fadiel Adams is expected to return to the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on Wednesday, where he is likely to face questions about his role in a probe involving senior Crime Intelligence officials.
Suspended National Coloured Congress (NCC) MP Fadiel Adams is expected to appear before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in Pretoria on Wednesday.
Adams was scheduled to testify last week but his appearance was postponed after he cited a malfunctioning laptop. He had also submitted his sworn statement and supporting documents at the last minute.
The delay drew criticism from the commission’s chairperson, Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga, who reprimanded Adams and questioned his commitment to the inquiry.
When he takes the stand, Adams is expected to be questioned about his alleged role in an investigation involving seven senior Crime Intelligence officials, including Crime Intelligence head Lieutenant-General Dumisani Khumalo.
The commission is also expected to scrutinise a Section 27 affidavit submitted by Adams, which became the basis for an investigation into allegations of wrongdoing, including alleged corruption within Crime Intelligence.
His testimony follows evidence from officials of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC), who have raised questions about how the investigation into the Crime Intelligence officials was initiated and conducted.
Adams is expected to explain the information contained in his complaint, what he told investigators and the circumstances surrounding the submission of his affidavit.
