Zimbabwean TikToker Ndoyisile faces backlash over Top Billing audition
Zimbabwean TikTok star Ndoyisile Sibindi’s Top Billing audition has sparked fierce backlash online, with critics resurfacing past remarks about South Africans and calling on SABC3 to reject his entry.
A social media storm has erupted after Ndoyisile Sibindi, a Zimbabwean TikTok content creator with more than 1.1 million followers, submitted an audition for the revived Top Billing on SABC3.
Sibindi shared a audition video online as part of the broadcaster’s ongoing search for new presenters. However, the audition quickly sparked backlash from some South African social media users who resurfaced comments he allegedly made in January 2025 criticizing residents of Tembisa at an upscale shopping mall.
Critics accused the influencer of being classist and disrespectful toward South Africans, while others questioned whether foreign nationals should be given opportunities on local television ahead of South African talent. Some social media users also targeted Sibindi over his accent and made unverified claims about his immigration status.
Despite the criticism, some supporters defended Sibindi, praising his charisma, presentation skills and confidence, arguing that talent should be prioritised regardless of nationality.
Among those reacting online was Cassiday Rangata-Jacobs, who wrote: “Actually I’m angry at his audacity. After what he said about South Africans, I swear to God, it will be a cold day in hell before he ever sets foot on Top Billing. I’ll go to jail for this.”
Another user, Thembisile Q II, posted: “This fraud Ndoyisile is classist and arrogant. He doesn't align with your brand. And please don't let him take food out of South Africans' mouths. Thank you.”
Ndlela KaMaMlobeli Camera added: “Today let’s deal with Ndoyisile until Top Billing understands that we don’t want to see a disrespectful Zimbabwean on our screens.”
Meanwhile, Thee Holy Degenerate wrote: “Deport him back to Zim, we have not forgotten what he said about fellow South Africans!!”
Neither Sibindi nor SABC3 has publicly responded to the backlash as auditions for the show continue.
