Missing Vosloorus shop owner Mazwi Kubheka found alive after 30 days
Mazwi Kubheka, missing for over 30 days, has been found safe after allegedly being kidnapped amid a spaza shop dispute. He presented himself at Vosloorus Police Station. Reports claim he was abducted in a white Corolla. Police are continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.
Mazwi Kubheka, who had been missing for over 30 days, has been found safe following his alleged kidnapping linked to a dispute at a spaza shop, police confirmed on Saturday.
Police said Kubheka presented himself at the Vosloorus Police Station on Saturday evening.
Information previously received indicated that Kubheka was allegedly abducted by occupants of a white Toyota Corolla without visible registration plates. It is further alleged that tensions arose after a Pakistani national, who had been operating a tuck shop, was asked by the landlord to vacate the premises.
Following their refusal, community members were reportedly approached to assist with their removal, after which Kubheka took over the shop.
Additional claims suggest that an individual known as “Zulu” had been pressuring Kubheka to sell the business to foreign nationals, which he repeatedly refused.
A missing person’s case was opened on 05 April.
Police have confirmed that Kubheka is safe, and investigations into the alleged kidnapping are ongoing.
