Collen Mashawana foundation expands its footprint in Zimbabwe
The Collen Mashawana Foundation is positioning itself to become a meaningful contributor to Zimbabwe’s development journey and a catalyst for positive change across the region.
The Collen Mashawana Foundation is steadily expanding its footprint in Zimbabwe as it seeks to deepen its impact through community development, youth empowerment, education support, housing initiatives, and humanitarian interventions aimed at uplifting vulnerable communities.
Over the years, the Foundation has built a strong reputation for transforming lives through sustainable development programmes across Southern Africa. As it grows its presence in Zimbabwe, the organisation is focused on establishing meaningful partnerships that will enable it to contribute to the country’s social and economic development agenda.
Leading this expansion is the Foundation’s founder, Dr. Collen Mashawana, whose philanthropic work has earned recognition across Africa. Driven by a vision of restoring dignity and creating opportunities for disadvantaged communities, Dr. Mashawana has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting communities beyond South Africa’s borders and contributing meaningfully to development efforts across the continent.
As part of these efforts, Dr. Mashawana recently held discussions with Zimbabwe’s First Lady, Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa, regarding potential areas of collaboration between the Collen Mashawana Foundation and the Angel of Hope Foundation. The discussions focused on community development, poverty alleviation, youth empowerment, education, and initiatives aimed at improving the lives of vulnerable Zimbabweans.
The Foundation’s commitment to Zimbabwe was recently demonstrated through a visit to Rock of Ages Children’s Home in Melfort, Goromonzi, where Dr. Mashawana and his team witnessed first-hand the remarkable work being done to care for vulnerable children and restore hope to families facing difficult circumstances.
During the visit, the Collen Mashawana Foundation donated food parcels, clothing, toys, beds, and school uniforms to support the children and the centre’s ongoing efforts. The intervention forms part of the Foundation’s broader strategy to partner with community-based organisations that are making a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable people.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Mashawana emphasized that the support provided to Rock of Ages marks the beginning of a long-term partnership and reflects the Foundation’s intention to expand its humanitarian footprint across Zimbabwe. The Foundation has identified several community initiatives and centres that it intends to support as part of its mission to combat poverty, improve living conditions, and create opportunities for disadvantaged communities.
The visit also carried a broader message about African unity and solidarity. Dr. Mashawana noted that the challenges facing communities across the continent, including poverty, unemployment, and inequality, transcend national borders and require collective action.
He emphasized that while immigration issues continue to generate debate across parts of Africa, particularly in South Africa, it is important to remember that humanity must always come before borders. According to Dr. Mashawana, the continent’s greatest strength lies in its ability to work together, show compassion, and uplift those who are most vulnerable.
As the Foundation continues to establish partnerships and implement programmes in Zimbabwe, its vision remains clear: to restore dignity, create hope, and empower communities through sustainable interventions that improve lives and contribute to a more prosperous and inclusive Africa.
Through strategic partnerships, community-driven programmes, and humanitarian support, the Collen Mashawana Foundation is positioning itself to become a meaningful contributor to Zimbabwe’s development journey and a catalyst for positive change across the region.
