SANTACO in Gauteng has called for an urgent correction after a report falsely attributed political statements to the organisation.
The South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) in Gauteng has called on Briefly News to urgently retract and correct an article it says misrepresents the organisation.
This follows a report alleging that SANTACO had called for the removal of Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi after a recent provincial cabinet reshuffle. The council maintains that the statement was incorrectly attributed to it and should have been credited to the South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO).
SANTACO has urged the public, media practitioners and stakeholders to verify information before sharing it and to rely on official communication channels for accurate updates.
"SANTACO is strictly apolitical and does not make pronouncements on political matters or developments. Any assertion suggesting otherwise is misleading and does not reflect the position or values of the Council," the council said.
The council reaffirmed its commitment to representing and advancing the interests of the taxi industry with integrity, professionalism and accountability.
