A police captain accused of defrauding a security company of millions has made his first court appearance in Pretoria and was granted bail.
Suspended police captain Johannes van Rensburg was on Tuesday granted R50,000 bail by the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on charges of fraud and theft.
Van Rensburg is accused of siphoning off millions of rand from Protection Security Services by allegedly manipulating internal systems and disguising the transactions as travel expenses.
The case was postponed to 30 July 2026 for further investigation.
