North West crime activist Thato Molosankwe shot dead in Mahikeng
Police have launched a manhunt following the murder of Mahikeng crime activist and traditional healer Thato Molosankwe, who was gunned down at his home in Lomanyaneng village in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
North West activist Thato Molosankwe has been shot dead, prompting the South African Police Service (SAPS) to deploy maximum resources to track down his killers.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said Molosankwe was attacked at his home in Lomanyaneng village near Mahikeng during the early hours of Wednesday morning. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene.
The Acting National Commissioner of SAPS, Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane, has instructed the North West Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Ryno Naidoo, to ensure that investigators intensify efforts to arrest those responsible.
Dimpane condemned the killing, describing it as brutal, and assured the community that police would leave no stone unturned in pursuing justice.
Molosankwe, who was known in the community as both a crime activist and traditional healer, was praised by local police for his role in assisting efforts to combat crime and corruption, while also helping strengthen relations between police and residents.
The Provincial Murder and Robbery Unit has since taken over the investigation.
