Lions centre Bronson Mills appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court after allegedly assaulting a student during a late-night altercation in Hout Bay. The 22-year-old denies the charges, but witnesses claim the rising rugby star’s temper flared when he accused the student of theft.
Lions rugby player Bronson Mills has found himself in hot water after a night out in Cape Town ended in violence. The 22-year-old centre appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on charges of assault following an alleged attack on a student during a gathering in Hout Bay.
According to witnesses, the incident unfolded when Mills accused the student, Marumo Selane, of stealing. The confrontation allegedly turned physical, with Selane claiming he was dragged outside, punched, and kicked repeatedly.
Mills later handed himself over to police at the Hout Bay station and was released on bail. He has denied all allegations, insisting that the matter has been exaggerated.
The Lions Rugby Union has confirmed awareness of the charges but declined to comment until Mills’ legal representatives provide further clarity. The case has been postponed to 11 November for further proceedings.
