Fact Durban Rocks has confirmed that this year’s New Year’s Eve event will be the last organised by its current partners, bringing an end to a more than decade-long run as Durban’s biggest party.
In a statement the organisers said the decision follows months of public concern about early New Year’s Eve closing times, as well as careful consideration of the event’s future.
Fact Durban Rocks has been hosting events from 6pm to 6am twice a year since July 2011 and has become a fixture on Durban’s entertainment calendar. The organisers highlighted several major milestones, including being the first to return after Covid-19 restrictions with two picnic events and the only event to host two outdoor broadcasts during that challenging period.
This December marks the 30th FACT event, a milestone organisers described as both meaningful and symbolic. They said the moment felt right to pass the baton to a new generation of emerging talent in the music and events industry.
Organisers confirmed that this New Year’s Eve will be the final FACT Durban Rocks event organised by the current partners. From January 2026, the FACT brand and its trademarks will be placed on the market.
They expressed gratitude to loyal attendees, sponsors and partners, as well as the city and provincial authorities for their support over the years. Special thanks were extended to sponsors, including SAB and Schweppes, for their role in sustaining the event.
The final FACT Durban Rocks event will take place on 31 December, running from 2pm to 2am, offering fans one last opportunity to celebrate with the brand.
“It has been an honour to serve this community,” the organisers said, thanking supporters who have continued to make Fact Durban Rocks a flagship event, rain or shine.
