Collins Letsoalo
Former RAF CEO Collins Letsoalo missed his scheduled appearance before Parliament’s SCOPA inquiry into alleged financial mismanagement and irregular contracts. Multiple attempts to serve him summonses failed, leaving MPs frustrated and warning of possible legal consequences.
Former Road Accident Fund (RAF) CEO Collins Letsoalo failed to appear before Parliament’s Standing Committee on Public Accounts (SCOPA) on Tuesday, despite being formally summoned to address allegations of financial mismanagement, irregular contracts, and the establishment of a parallel staffing structure during his tenure.
Parliament had made multiple attempts to serve Letsoalo with the summons at his known addresses, including electronically. SCOPA Chair Songezo Zibi expressed frustration, noting that the committee had reserved the day specifically for Letsoalo’s testimony and would now consider legal measures, including criminal prosecution, for failing to comply with a parliamentary summons.
Letsoalo has previously questioned SCOPA’s authority to investigate the RAF, suggesting the Transport Portfolio Committee should oversee such matters. His absence has intensified calls for accountability, with ActionSA demanding immediate legal action, asserting that defying Parliament undermines its oversight role.
