Annual Christmas initiative continues to uplift over 3,000 elderly-led families in Limpopo’s Vhembe District
The Collen Mashawana Foundation is celebrating 14 years of meaningful impact, marking a milestone in its ongoing mission to uplift vulnerable communities through its flagship Phende Phende programme.
The foundation has extended its gratitude to partners and sponsors who continue to support the CMF Annual Christmas Celebration for the elderly. Their contributions have played a crucial role in restoring dignity and hope to thousands of elderly-led households across Limpopo.
Operating in the Vhembe District, the programme currently reaches more than 3,000 families across over 60 villages. Over the years, it has grown into a vital annual intervention, fostering collaboration between traditional leaders, faith-based organisations, political representatives, and business stakeholders.
Through this collective effort, beneficiaries have received essential and life-changing support, including the construction of homes, provision of wheelchairs and walkers, as well as blankets, clothing, and medical assistance. These interventions have significantly improved living conditions while restoring dignity to some of the country’s most vulnerable citizens.
Looking ahead, the foundation has set its sights on expanding the Phende Phende programme beyond Limpopo, with plans to extend its reach to other provinces. The goal is to broaden its impact and ensure that more communities across South Africa benefit from sustained care and support.
