The case against a suspect linked to the murder of broadcaster Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock has been postponed to January 6 for a bail application. Victor Majola will remain in custody over the festive season following the postponement of his case by the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court.
He appeared in court on Wednesday, where the matter was formally postponed. Police had initially arrested two suspects following the killing, but only one suspect has so far appeared before the court.
During the brief appearance, the suspect alleged that he was assaulted by police during his arrest and indicated that he requires medical attention. Despite the claims, the court ordered that the suspect remain in custody until the next court date.
DJ Warras was shot and killed in Johannesburg on December 16, in a murder that sent shockwaves through the broadcasting and entertainment industry. He was widely known for his work on radio and his involvement in various business ventures, including private security operations.
Police investigations into the murder are ongoing, and authorities have not ruled out further arrests as they continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The state is opposing bail.
