UK murder suspect arrested in Johannesburg over deaths of wife and two daughters
A man wanted by police in the United Kingdom for the alleged murder of his wife and two daughters has been arrested in Kensington, Johannesburg, following a coordinated operation by the South African Police Service.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) has arrested a man wanted by authorities in the United Kingdom in connection with the alleged murder of his wife and two young daughters.
Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma was arrested in Kensington, Johannesburg, on Friday following an intelligence-driven operation involving the SAPS Interpol National Central Bureau, Crime Intelligence and the Organised Crime Investigation Unit.
According to police, Tshuma is wanted by UK authorities after the bodies of his wife, Nothabo Zandile Tshuma, 42, and their daughters, Natalie, 15, and Nala, 5, were discovered at their home near Bedford in the United Kingdom.
Police said the arrest followed swift operational coordination and intelligence-led investigations that enabled officers to trace and apprehend the suspect.
Acting National Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane praised the officers involved in the operation, describing the arrest as a demonstration of South Africa's commitment to working with international law enforcement agencies.
"This arrest demonstrates that South Africa is not a safe haven for fugitives. Anyone who believes they can evade justice by fleeing to our country should know that SAPS will work tirelessly with international law enforcement partners to trace, locate and arrest them," Dimpane said.
Tshuma is expected to appear in court on Monday.
