Mediators Doha Forum statements from Qatar and Egypt demand full Israeli troop withdrawal and deployment of an international stabilisation force as the necessary next steps to cement the fragile Gaza ceasefire and bring stability back to the Strip
During a session of the Doha Forum on Saturday, mediators from Qatar and Egypt urged that the next phase of the Gaza truce be fast-tracked to prevent a relapse into violence.
Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al‑Thani described the moment as critical, saying a ceasefire can only be considered complete once Israeli troops fully withdraw and a stabilisation force is deployed to guarantee peace.
Echoing the call, Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty insisted that without swift action the fragile pause risks collapse, urging immediate deployment of the international force along the agreed “yellow line” inside Gaza to verify compliance and protect civilians.
The 2025 US- and UN-backed peace plan lays out a multi-phase roadmap: the first phase — a ceasefire and partial force repositioning — has largely held, but the warring parties have yet to agree on the next steps. With Israeli forces still present in key areas and reports of ongoing violations, Qatar and Egypt are calling on the international community to help implement the stabilisation force without delay.
Mediators warn that true peace depends not just on the absence of fighting but on clear safeguards — international monitors, protected humanitarian corridors, and a verified withdrawal. Without these, the truce risks unraveling, with civilians again bearing the worst consequences.
