In the wake of DJ Warras' untimely death, the National Police Commissioner, General Fannie Masemola has promised a swift resolution of DJ Warras'murder case as investigations intensify. The 40-year-old was killed in an alleged hit linked to the scourge of building hijackings in the city centre.
The National Police Commissioner, General Fannie Masemola, has issued a strong statement to the public following the tragic murder of popular media personality Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock.
Speaking during a vehicle handover ceremony in Pretoria on Friday, Masemola assured a wave of concerned South Africans and grieving fans that the police are on the cusp of making a significant breakthrough in the case, with an arrest expected as early as this weekend.
DJ Warras was gunned down on Tuesday outside a building in the Johannesburg CBD, where he was reportedly providing security services. The shocking murder has left a pall over the community, prompting calls for swift justice. In response, Masemola has affirmed confidence in the police's progress, stating, "A suspect has been identified, and he will be arrested before Monday."
His remarks came during an oversight visit focusing on ongoing Safer Festive Season operations in Pretoria, where more than 150 new police vehicles were officially handed over.
On Friday, reports surfaced that police had conducted a critical raid at Zambezi House—a location believed to be central to DJ Warras’ murder investigation. This raid, led by City of Johannesburg MMC for Public Safety Dr Mgcini Tshwaku and members of the JMPD, resulted in the seizure of a cellphone belonging to one of the persons of interest in the case. The police's proactive actions signal their commitment to resolving the case efficiently, with Masemola clearly indicating that law enforcement is indeed closing in on the suspect.
Masemola's remarks emphasise the urgency with which the police are approaching this high-profile case. "He is a known suspect; he will definitely, if not today, then over the weekend, that suspect will be arrested," Masemola assured during his media interactions.
The murder of the former Y-FM and Gagasi FM DJ has not only sparked outrage among his followers but has also raised broader concerns about safety in Johannesburg's urban landscape.
