The Ndimande brothers have been extradited from Eswatini and are in South Africa to face charges for the murders of rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and celebrity chef Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane. Authorities say the brothers will be formally charged in Durban as investigations continue into who commissioned the attack.
The Ndimande brothers have been arrested and repatriated to South Africa to face charges related to the murders of rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and celebrity chef Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane. They arrived in the country on Tuesday morning following their extradition from the Kingdom of Eswatini.
Under heavy police guard, including helicopters, Nyalas, vans, and several smaller vehicles, the Ndimande brothers were escorted to the police station. Police confirmed that Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande were being taken to Durban Central Police Station to be formally charged.
The brothers are considered dangerous, and heightened security measures were in place. Onlookers recorded videos of the brothers and the police as they arrived.
The arrests follow a lengthy investigation into the February 2023 killings outside a Durban nightclub.
The murders of AKA and Motsoane drew national attention after a video showing the ambush of the two men went viral shortly after the attack. The case has remained a focus for law enforcement, and authorities have repeatedly assured the public that all efforts would be made to bring those responsible to justice.
The formal charging of the Ndimande brothers is expected to mark the next stage of the legal process in the high-profile case. The investigation into who commissioned the attack continues as authorities work to uncover all details surrounding the killings.
Tony Forbes, father of late rapper AKA, expressed satisfaction with the arrests of the Ndimande brothers, whom he believes were the shooters. He praised the police for their thorough work, saying he was proud of how police collaborated with the NPA.
Meanwhile, civil rights and social justice movement #NotInMyName International welcomed the arrests. The organisation’s spokesperson said the group was encouraged by the news and hoped that justice would follow swiftly. “We hope justice will take its course quickly so that we can get to the bottom of this matter,” they said.
