Senuran Muthusamy and Marco Jansen delivered a sensational performance on day two of the second Test in Guwahati, propelling South Africa to a commanding total of 489. Muthusamy reached his maiden Test century with a composed 109, while Jansen counter-attacked with a destructive 93, including seven sixes, to energise the innings.
The 97-run eighth-wicket partnership transformed the match after South Africa had been in trouble at 247 for six. Muthusamy’s disciplined stroke play combined with Jansen’s fearless aggression gave the Proteas a solid platform and put India under immense pressure.
Reflecting on his achievement, Muthusamy said the century was a personal milestone and a crucial contribution in the subcontinent’s challenging conditions. The lower-order revival has reshaped the contest, ensuring South Africa now holds a strong advantage going forward.
