In response to this alarming crime, the Aubrey Tau Foundation has stepped forward with a substantial pledge of R250 000 to assist the bereaved families as they navigate this heartbreaking loss.
Moja Love TV founder Aubrey Tau has donated R250,000 to the family of cousins Tshiamo Moramaga, 22, and Baleseng Moramaga, 21, who were brutally murdered in Mamelodi over the weekend.
The killings have reignited public outrage over gender-based violence and calls for stronger action to protect women and children in South Africa. The victims were found with gunshot wounds in Mamelodi East Extension 17 on Sunday morning.
The Aubrey Tau Foundation had initially offered the same amount as a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrators. Following the arrest of a 38-year-old suspect within days, the foundation redirected the funds to support the grieving family.
In a statement, Tau expressed condolences on behalf of Moja Love and praised both the South African Police Service and community members for their swift action and cooperation.
“While money cannot replace the victims, we believe justice must be served swiftly and effectively,” said Tau. “We remain committed to exposing criminal activities and supporting communities through our ongoing social justice initiatives.”
Tau condemned the escalating violence against women, saying it was unacceptable that young women continued to be killed so brutally. “We cannot stand idle while our sisters and daughters are murdered. Action must be taken,” he added.
The tragic deaths of the Moramaga cousins have once again highlighted the urgent need for stronger measures to combat gender-based violence in South Africa.
