Award-winning singer and songwriter Kelly Khumalo has on Saturday announced the cancellation of her 20th anniversary celebration concert, which was set to take place on 15 November 2025.
The event, meant to mark two decades of her successful music career, has been called off due to what Khumalo described as “unforeseen circumstances.”
In a statement shared on her social media platforms, Khumalo said: “We fully understand the disappointment this decision may cause, and we extend sincerest apologies for any inconvenience it may create”.
She confirmed that full refunds will be issued to those who had already purchased tickets. Khumalo said they will provide updates regarding potential rescheduling of the event in the future.
The cancellation comes as Khumalo continues to trend on social media amid renewed attention on the murder trial of her late boyfriend, Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa. In the ongoing proceedings, murder accused Muzi Sibiya has distanced himself from claims that Meyiwa’s killing was a contract hit allegedly ordered by Khumalo.
The allegations have resurfaced public debate and scrutiny around the 2014 incident, which shocked the nation and remains one of South Africa’s most high-profile cases.
Khumalo has consistently denied any involvement in Meyiwa’s death, maintaining her innocence and choosing to focus on her music career despite the controversy.
She entered the music scene in 2005, releasing her debut album TKO the same year.
The album featured hit songs such as Qinisela, which was nominated for Song of the Year and Best Afro Pop Album at the 2006 South African Music Awards.
