The Tembisa Magistrates’ Court has postponed the case against Hope Shongwe and Tuki Benjamin Maditsi, accused of shooting the principal and an administrative officer at Inxiweni Primary School, to 01 December 2025. Both remain in custody as authorities continue investigations, and further arrests may follow.
The Tembisa Magistrates' Court on Monday postponed the double-murder case to 01 December 2025. Hope Shongwe and Tuki Benjamin Maditsi face murder charges for allegedly killing the principal and an administrative officer at Inxiweni Primary School.
The incident occurred on 18 November 2025 and led to the arrest of both Shongwe and Maditsi. They are currently in custody and will remain there until their next court appearance. Authorities have indicated that further arrests are possible as investigations continue.
The State requested the postponement to allow officials to verify the residential addresses of the accused. Investigators are continuing to gather evidence to support the prosecution of the two individuals.
Phindi Mjonondwane, NPA Regional Spokesperson for the Gauteng Division in Johannesburg, said the National Prosecuting Authority is monitoring the case closely. Mjonondwane stated that the NPA is committed to ensuring that the alleged perpetrators are held accountable and that justice is served for the victims of the attack.
The alleged shooting at the school caused serious concern in the community and prompted immediate law enforcement response. Police moved quickly to apprehend the two suspects following the incident. Residents and parents were reported to be shaken by the attack, which targeted school officials during working hours.
Authorities have emphasised the need for continued investigation before any additional charges or arrests can be made. Investigators are working to establish all relevant facts surrounding the shooting and are coordinating with the NPA to ensure proper legal procedures are followed.
The Tembisa Magistrates’ Court will review the case on 01 December, when the matter is expected to progress with further investigations completed. The postponement allows the prosecution sufficient time to verify details and prepare the case for the next hearing.
The NPA has assured the public that it will continue to oversee developments in the matter. The authority highlighted its commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that all those involved in violent crimes are dealt with in accordance with South African law.
The case has drawn attention to security concerns in schools and the importance of protecting educators and administrative staff. The investigation into the Inxiweni Primary School shooting continues as authorities work to bring clarity and justice to the incident.
