Frank Sadiqi’s prolonged detention raises questions over justice delays

Zimbabwean businessman Frank Buyanga Sadiqi remains behind bars in South Africa nearly three years after his arrest, as ongoing legal proceedings continue to draw scrutiny from legal observers and human rights advocates.

Buyanga was arrested in November 2022 on charges related to a custody dispute involving his former partner, as well as alleged immigration violations. Since then, the high-profile businessman has remained in custody while his case winds through the courts.

His legal team has repeatedly challenged the legality of his continued detention, arguing that his constitutional rights have been infringed and that the prolonged delays in resolving the matter are unjustified.
