Former Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader and Power FM radio host, Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, has been unveiled as the new host of the African Renaissance Podcast under the auspices of the Thabo Mbeki Foundation. Set to premiere on Monday, 27 October 2025, the weekly pan-African platform will tackle ambitious ideas aimed at revitalising the continent.
According to the foundation, the weekly show will explore “bold ideas for Africa’s renewal,” delving into politics, economics, and history across the continent. It has been reported that new episodes of the podcast will be aired every Monday at 3 pm on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts.
His first interview will feature the patron of the foundation, whose interview with Ndlozi touches on the country’s economic development and some of the issues being heard at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry and the Parliamentary ad hoc committee probing alleged political interference and infiltration by drug cartels into the affairs of the police.
On Friday, in a statement the foundationion said the podcast will be a critical tool in tackling issues of the african renaissance.
“This podcast is a critical tool in our mission to advance the African Renaissance. It is a platform to overturn the colonial corrosion of the African psyche and champion the self-sufficiency, commitment, dignity, and prosperity of the African people,’’ Max Boqwana, the foundation’s CEO, said.
The Foundation described Ndlozi as “dynamic and incisive,” saying his leadership aligns with former president Thabo Mbeki’s vision of an African renaissance, with Boqwana stating:” We are confident that with Dr Ndlozi at the helm, his extensive expertise in social mobilisation and policy advocacy will drive incisive and transformative conversations that resonate across the continent and the diaspora.”
Ndlozi, who resigned from Parliament earlier this year, said the platform would promote “critical conversations about Africa’s future, with the former politician turned media personality dismissing claims that the role represents a “soft landing” into the ANC.
