South African philanthropist Dr Collen Mashawana is set to receive the prestigious African Philanthropist Award in Ghana on Saturday, recognising his impact on vulnerable communities across the continent.
South African philanthropist Dr Collen Mashawana is expected to receive the prestigious African Philanthropist Award in Accra, Ghana, on Saturday, at the African Heritage Awards ceremony.
Mashawana arrived in Ghana ahead of the event, where he has already engaged with key government stakeholders on issues of infrastructure and social development. His visit included discussions with Ghana’s Minister of Works, Housing and Water Resources, aimed at strengthening collaboration and sharing best practices.
The award recognises Mashawana’s outstanding contribution to philanthropy and his continued efforts to uplift vulnerable communities through sustainable development initiatives. As founder of the Collen Mashawana Foundation, he has spearheaded programmes focused on housing, education, healthcare and community development.
The African Heritage Awards ceremony, taking place on Saturday in Accra, is expected to bring together influential leaders, policymakers and change-makers from across the continent.
Mashawana’s recognition comes as his foundation marks 14 years of service, reflecting a sustained commitment to empowering disadvantaged communities and advancing inclusive growth across Africa.
The honour places him among leading African figures who are shaping the continent’s development through innovation, leadership and humanitarian efforts.
