DJ Warras, popularly known as Shady Lurka, has been shot and killed in Johannesburg CBD. The incident reportedly occurred while he was inspecting some buildings guarded by his private security company. The company is said to have been assisting with operations to evict illegal occupants from hijacked buildings.

Warras previously hosted the afternoon drive show on Gagasi FM from 3pm to 6pm, alongside Nomalanga Shozi. At this stage, the family says it is still trying to establish the motive behind the fatal attack.
Tributes continue to pour in from fans, colleagues and industry peers mourning his death.
