DJ Warras murder trial delayed as accused seeks legal aid
The murder trial of popular Johannesburg DJ Warrick Stock, widely known as DJ Warras, has been postponed to next month after one of the accused requested Legal Aid representation. The court is expected to set a trial date at the next hearing.
The High Court in Johannesburg has on Thursday postponed the murder trial of Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, to 24 July 2026.
The postponement comes as one of the accused, Mozambican national Armindo Pacula, has applied for Legal Aid representation.
Pacula, who is alleged to be the gunman responsible for Stock's fatal shooting, appeared alongside co-accused Victor Majola during court proceedings on Thursday.
Majola is currently represented by a private attorney, while Pacula's application for state-funded legal representation is still being processed.
The two men remain in custody in connection with the killing of Stock, who was shot and killed in the Johannesburg CBD last year.
During the brief court appearance on Thursday, the matter was postponed to allow for the finalisation of Pacula's legal representation.
The court is expected to set a trial date when the accused return to court next month.
