The murder suspect in the killing of popular DJ Warras has been denied bail, with the court citing concerns over flight risk, unreliable evidence and the interests of justice.
The suspect accused of murdering popular DJ Warras will remain behind bars after the court denied his bail application.
Johannesburg Magistrate Annelise Tlhapi ruled that Victor Majola, poses a flight risk and could potentially interfere with witnesses or threaten public safety if released.
Majola, 44, appeared before the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday, facing a charge of murder linked to DJ Warras’ death. During proceedings, the magistrate raised concerns about video footage submitted by the defence in support of Majola’s bail bid.
Magistrate Tlhapi said the footage was unclear and unreliable, noting that it appeared blurry, dark and possibly altered. She told the court that the inconsistencies in the video made it unsuitable to be relied upon as credible evidence.
The State strongly opposed bail, arguing that Majola’s release could jeopardise the investigation and erode public confidence in the justice system. The court agreed, emphasising the seriousness of the offence and ruling that it would not be in the interests of justice to grant bail.
Majola will remain in custody, and the matter has been postponed to 11 February 2026 for further proceedings.
