Ad-Hoc Committee
Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala told Parliament that his friend Jerry Boshoga, missing since 2024, was involved in drug dealings. Matlala denied any cartel connections, saying their relationship was personal, not business, after lending Boshoga money for a cattle operation.
Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala told Parliament’s ad hoc committee investigating police corruption that his missing friend, Jerry Boshoga, was involved in the narcotics trade. According to Matlala, Boshoga had confided in his brother about handling a 20‑litre drum of chemicals used to produce drugs in Centurion shortly before he disappeared in 2024.
Matlala was adamant that he himself had no involvement in drug trafficking or cartel activity. He stressed that while he considered Boshoga a close friend, their relationship was strictly personal. The loan he had given Boshoga, amounting to R1 million to support a cattle-farming venture, was unrelated to any illegal activity, with about R100 000 still outstanding.
When questioned about possible protection or business dealings with Boshoga, Matlala rejected any connection, insisting he had not assisted in illicit activities. He categorically denied any affiliation with drug syndicates or cartels, asserting that his friendship with Boshoga did not imply complicity.
The testimony comes amid broader scrutiny of Matlala, whose name has surfaced repeatedly in connection with alleged corruption, tender irregularities, and suspected criminal networks. His revelations about Boshoga’s alleged drug dealings add complexity to the inquiry, which continues to probe the intertwining of personal relationships, loans, and alleged criminal activity.
