Woman arrested with heroin worth R12,000 in Limpopo drug bust

A 29-year-old woman has been arrested for the alleged dealing in and possession of drugs following a police operation in Tafelkop Village, under the Motetema policing precinct.

The suspect was arrested on Thursday morning after members of the Provincial Narcotics and Detectives Unit conducted a disruptive operation at a residence in the area.

Police spokespersons said the operation followed information about a woman who was allegedly selling drugs from her home.

The operation was conducted at about 6.40am.

“Upon arrival at the premises, police identified themselves and, during the search, observed the suspect attempting to conceal the suspected drugs,” police said.

The woman was instructed to hand over the items she had allegedly concealed.

Police subsequently discovered 12 transparent plastic packets containing suspected heroin.

The drugs weighed approximately 200 grams and had an estimated street value of R12,000.

The suspect was immediately arrested at the scene, while the suspected heroin was seized.

She is expected to appear before the Motetema Magistrate’s Court on Friday, where she will face charges of dealing in and possession of drugs.

Police investigations into the matter are continuing.
