TMPD Deputy Commissioner Umashi Dhlamini has been suspended following allegations of tender irregularities linked to the Madlanga Commission.
Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) Deputy Commissioner Umashi Dhlamini has been suspended with immediate effect after his name was mentioned at the Madlanga Commission, where allegations of tender irregularities surfaced.
In a statement issued on Saturday, TMPD spokesperson Colonel Isaac Mahamba confirmed that Dhlamini, who was responsible for support and administration, was placed on suspension on Friday, 20 March 2026.
Mahamba said the decision was taken to allow for a fair, thorough and uninterrupted investigation into the allegations.
“The suspension is a standard risk-management measure to safeguard the integrity of the investigative process. It does not constitute a disciplinary sanction or imply any finding of guilt,” he said.
