Down to ten men and trailing until the 89th minute, Stellenbosch FC delivered a dramatic comeback to beat Orbit College 2–1 at Olympia Park. A last-minute strike from Thato Khiba and a stoppage-time winner by Athenkosi Mcaba handed them their first away win of the season and a vital boost in morale.
Stellenbosch FC rescued a match that had looked lost when they overturned a 1–0 deficit to beat Orbit College 2–1 at Olympia Park on Wednesday night. Orbit College had taken the lead just before half-time through Mbulelo Wagaba after exploiting a lapse in the visitors’ defence, but the Cape side refused to fold after a second-half red card reduced them to ten men.
For much of the game Stellenbosch seemed destined for a third successive defeat. Despite enjoying more possession and creating the clearer chances, including a 12th-minute shot from Devin Titus that forced a fine save, they trailed going into stoppage time. Then, with just minutes left, substitute Thato Khiba unleashed a powerful left-footed strike to restore parity, and moments later Athenkosi Mcaba pounced on another defensive error to volley home the winner.
The dramatic result came despite the club being a man down after Thabo Moloisane picked up a second yellow card late in the match. The win ends a barren run away from home for Stellenbosch and lifts them just outside the relegation trouble zone, while dealing Orbit College their first home defeat of the season — a bitter blow for a side previously unbeaten at Olympia Park
