'She's just cold': Married at First Sight Mzansi viewers slam Nompumelelo over treatment of Hlulani

Season three of Married at First Sight Mzansi continues to dominate social media conversations, with viewers weighing in on the couples' relationships after each episode.

Since the reality show's July premiere on Mzansi Magic, audiences have debated whether the experts are genuinely matching compatible partners or deliberately creating explosive pairings for entertainment.

Relationship tensions have become a major talking point, with fans particularly focused on the marriage between Nompumelelo and Hlulani Ngobeni.

Many viewers believe Hlulani has made a genuine effort to build the relationship, while accusing Nompumelelo of being overly critical and emotionally distant.

X user @Jabu_Macdonald questioned her behaviour, writing: "Am I valid for saying that Mpumi is mean?"

Another viewer, @zeek50101, suggested Nompumelelo looks down on her husband because of his personality.

"Also, Nompumelelo looks down on Hlulani because he's soft and he respects her. She's full of herself," the user posted.

Others pointed to what they saw as a pattern of criticism directed at Hlulani.

According to X user @krugersville, Nompumelelo appears to find fault with almost everything her husband does, from his hairstyle and music preferences to the way he expresses concern.

"Aowa the guy is trying," the user concluded.

One of the strongest reactions came from @LeeMngomezulu_, who criticised Nompumelelo for failing to comfort Hlulani during an emotional moment.

"We need to be honest about this girl. She makes Hlulani feel rejected every chance she gets. U don't have to be in love with someone to show basic compassion. When he opened up about his mom, a hug would've cost her nothing. He's trying & she's just cold."

Not everyone placed the blame solely on the couple, however.

Muchi @Sipho_Says argued that the show's format itself sets participants up for failure. "The producers of Married at First Sight work tirelessly in cahoots with relationship 'experts' to put two people who wouldn't even be friends in the real world, in a marriage. Then they sit back and watch it all burn."
