SASSA confirms August 2026 grant payment dates, flags fourth payment day for beneficiaries under review

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced the payment schedule for August 2026 social grants, with beneficiaries set to begin receiving their grants from Tuesday, August 4.

According to the payment calendar released by the agency, Older Persons Grants will be paid from Tuesday, August 4, followed by Disability Grants on Wednesday, August 5, while Children's Grants will be paid from Thursday, August 6.

SASSA has also highlighted Friday, August 7, as a fourth payment day for beneficiaries whose grants have been selected for review.

The agency warned that if a beneficiary does not receive their grant on the usual payment date and it is only paid on the fourth payment day, it could mean their grant has been flagged for a review and SASSA has been unable to contact them.

Beneficiaries in this situation are urged to visit their nearest SASSA office before the 18th day of the following month to complete the review process.

The agency said beneficiaries should bring all the required supporting documents, including proof of income, proof of marital status and any other relevant documentation needed to verify their continued eligibility for the grant.

SASSA said the review process is aimed at ensuring social grants are paid to the correct beneficiaries and that recipients continue to meet the qualifying criteria.

The agency encouraged beneficiaries to take note of the payment dates and to respond promptly if contacted regarding a grant review to avoid unnecessary delays in receiving their social assistance.
