SAPS to hold National Prayer Day as police safety month ends
Acting National Commissioner Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane will lead a National Prayer Day at St Albans Cathedral in Pretoria on Wednesday, bringing together police officials to pray for courage, resilience, the well-being of officers and safer communities.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) will hold its National Prayer Day at St Albans Cathedral in Pretoria on Wednesday, 30 September, as Police Safety Month draws to a close.
The event will be led by Acting National Commissioner Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane and will bring together SAPS members from national, provincial, district and station levels.
This year’s National Prayer Day is being observed under the theme, “Confront Uncertainty with Courage, Resilience and Faith”.
According to the SAPS, the initiative is spearheaded by its Employee Health and Wellness (EHW) Component and aims to unite police officials in prayer as they carry out their duties.
The service will focus on seeking wisdom, courage and resilience for police officers, while also praying for comfort, strength and well-being for the families of officers.
It will further highlight the need for safer communities across South Africa.
Throughout September, the SAPS observes Police Safety Month to honour police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty and to promote the safety, well-being and resilience of serving members.
The National Prayer Day forms part of these efforts to recognise the challenges faced by police officials and the importance of supporting them and their families.
