SAPS offers R100,000 reward for calcutta murder suspect
Police in Mpumalanga are offering a R100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and successful conviction of Phumulani Ezekiel Matsane, who is wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of two men at a tavern in Marite in 2023.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Mpumalanga has offered a R100,000 reward for information that could lead to the arrest and successful conviction of wanted murder suspect Phumulani Ezekiel Matsane.
Matsane is allegedly linked to the shooting and killing of two men at a tavern in Marite, within the Calcutta policing precinct, on 15 May 2023.
Police said they have not ruled out the possibility that Matsane could be linked to other similar cases currently under investigation.
Members of the public who have information about Matsane’s whereabouts are urged to contact Detective Lieutenant Colonel Madala Ndashe on 076 244 8577 or Lieutenant Colonel Freddy Magagula on 082 780 6815.
SAPS assured the public that all information provided would be treated confidentially.
Police have warned members of the public not to approach or attempt to apprehend Matsane, as he is considered armed and dangerous.
Mpumalanga Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Apaphia Modise said police were working to address crime in the Calcutta policing precinct, including areas such as Mkhuhlu, where several murder cases have recently been reported.
Police urged anyone with information that could assist the investigation to come forward and help bring the suspect to justice.
