Randburg restaurant case: Mudzingyama granted R15,000 bail
Lawrence Chamurwa Mudzingyama, 40, has been granted R15,000 bail after appearing in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on charges including intimidation, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, crimen injuria and fraud.
Lawrence Chamurwa Mudzingyama, 40, has been granted R15,000 bail by the Randburg Magistrates’ Court following his arrest in connection with an incident at a restaurant in Randburg.
Mudzingyama faces multiple charges arising from the alleged incident, including three counts each of intimidation, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) and crimen injuria.
He is also facing a charge of fraud.
The case relates to an incident at a Randburg restaurant, where Mudzingyama is alleged to have committed the offences that led to his arrest and subsequent appearance in court.
The intimidation charges relate to allegations that individuals were subjected to threats, while the assault charges concern allegations of conduct intended to cause serious bodily harm.
The crimen injuria charges relate to allegations of unlawfully and intentionally impairing the dignity or privacy of another person.
Mudzingyama was granted bail of R15,000 following his court appearance.
His bail means he will remain out of custody while the criminal proceedings continue. The granting of bail does not amount to a finding of guilt, and the allegations against him remain to be tested in court.
The fraud charge forms part of the case being pursued against him alongside the charges linked to the alleged restaurant incident.
Mudzingyama is expected to return to court as the matter progresses.
The State will have an opportunity to present its case, while Mudzingyama will have the opportunity to challenge the allegations against him and present his defence.
