Police launch intensive search for kidnapped 2-year-old Omphile Sethole in Ga-Mabuela Village
Police in Ga-Mabuela village have launched an intensive search for 2-year-old Omphile Sethole, who was allegedly kidnapped from her home during the early hours of Saturday. Authorities are appealing to the public for information as investigations continue into the child’s sudden and concerning disappearance.
Police in Tinmyne, Limpopo have launched an intensive search for a 2-year-old girl, Omphile Sethole, who was allegedly kidnapped from her home in Ga-Mabuela village in the early hours of Saturday, 02 May 2026.
In a statement police said, a case of housebreaking and kidnapping has been opened following the child’s disappearance.
It is alleged that at around 02:00, the child’s 52-year-old grandmother woke up to use the bathroom and took Omphile with her before returning to bed. When she woke again at approximately 06:00, the toddler was missing, and a window in the room had been left open.
Family members and neighbours immediately began searching the area but were unable to find the child. The incident was then reported to police, who have since initiated a large-scale search operation for both the missing toddler and the unknown suspect.
At the time of her disappearance, Omphile was wearing a pink jersey and black tights.
Police are urging anyone with information that could assist in locating the child or identifying the suspect to come forward.
