Orlando Pirates dominate PSL Awards after historic treble-winning season
Orlando Pirates capped off a remarkable campaign by sweeping the major honours at the PSL Awards, with Relebohile Mofokeng claiming the coveted Footballer of the Season award as the club's treble-winning squad received widespread recognition.
Orlando Pirates' outstanding 2025/26 campaign was rewarded in style on Monday night as the club dominated the PSL Awards, collecting the majority of the top honours following a memorable treble-winning season.
The awards ceremony, broadcast live on the SuperSport PSL Channel and SABC Sport, celebrated the Buccaneers' dominance across domestic football, with several players and head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou recognised for their exceptional contributions.
Former Pirates star Relebohile Mofokeng, who has since moved to Belgium, walked away with the biggest accolade of the evening after being named PSL Footballer of the Season, an award voted for by Premier Division head coaches.
The talented youngster also claimed the Betway Premiership Players' Player of the Season award, voted for by fellow professionals, before making history by winning the Young Player of the Season award for a record third consecutive year.
Ouaddou was recognised for his remarkable first season in charge of the Soweto giants, earning the Betway Premiership Coach of the Season award after guiding Pirates to three domestic trophies.
Pirates' dominance extended across the positional awards, with goalkeeper Sipho Chaine named Goalkeeper of the Season, Lebone Seema taking Defender of the Season, and Oswin Appollis, in his debut season for the club, winning Midfielder of the Season.
Cemran Dansin also earned recognition after his stunning strike against Mamelodi Sundowns was voted the Betway Premiership Goal of the Season.
The Buccaneers continued their strong showing in the cup competitions, with Tshepang Moremi receiving the MTN8 Last Man Standing award, while Mbekezeli Mbokazi was named Carling Knockout Player of the Tournament.
The awards reflected a season built on collective excellence rather than individual brilliance, highlighting the strength of a squad that excelled from defence to attack throughout the campaign.
With the new season set to begin this weekend, Pirates will now shift their focus to defending their domestic crown, knowing they will be the team every opponent is determined to beat after ending a 14-year wait for the league title and completing a historic treble.
