Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi has conveyed his sympathies to the family, assuring them of continued care for the surviving twin.
The Minister of Health, Aaron Motsoaledi, has extended his deepest condolences to the family of the Limpopo conjoined twins following the death of one of the infants after a complex separation surgery at Mankweng Hospital.
Motsoaledi visited the hospital on Friday alongside Limpopo MEC for Health, Dieketseng Mashego, where he commended the multidisciplinary medical team for their exceptional efforts. He said the procedure highlighted the capability of South Africa’s public health system to undertake highly specialised and complex surgeries.
The minister noted that every possible medical and clinical intervention was made in an effort to save the baby’s life.
He also reassured the family that the surviving twin will continue to receive the highest standard of care, with the department closely monitoring the child’s condition.
