Cedric Nkabinde, chief of staff to Minister Senzo Mchunu, found himself under fire after Parliament nullified his testimony and the Economic Freedom Fighters lodged a formal perjury charge. The development signals a rapid collapse of his credibility and raises serious questions about his conduct.
Cedric Nkabinde, the chief of staff to Minister Senzo Mchunu, has landed in serious trouble after the parliamentary ad‑hoc committee declared his testimony null and void and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) proceeded to lodge a formal perjury complaint against him.
During a session of the committee, Nkabinde admitted to having a “thumb‑sucked” affidavit — an acknowledgment that sections were drafted without proper verification. His admission, combined with the committee’s ruling that his previous statements hold no legal or evidentiary weight, has severely undermined his standing.
The EFF responded swiftly, citing the procedural nullification as grounds for a perjury investigation, stating that by knowingly providing unverified information under oath, Nkabinde may have committed a criminal offence.
