Manhunt launched after dangerous suspect escapes from hospital in Limpopo
Police in Limpopo are searching for a dangerous suspect who escaped from custody while receiving medical treatment, urging the public to assist with information.
Police in Namakgale have launched an intensive manhunt after a 34-year-old suspect escaped from lawful custody at a hospital in Limpopo’s Mopani District.
The suspect, Tumelo Raledi, reportedly escaped at around 21:30 on Sunday, 26 April 2026, while admitted at Maphuta Malatji Hospital under police guard.
Raledi is considered dangerous and had been arrested in connection with serious violent crimes, including rape, attempted murder, and two counts of murder allegedly committed between 2023 and 2025 in the Namakgale area.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has strongly condemned the escape and assured the public that all available resources are being used to track down and rearrest the suspect as quickly as possible.
Police have urged anyone with information that could assist in locating Raledi to contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Moloko Monyepao, call the Crime Stop number 08600 10111, visit their nearest police station, or use the MySAPSApp.
Investigations into the escape are ongoing.
