A 33-year-old foreign national has been arrested after police allegedly found him in possession of military-grade explosives in Malvern East, Ekurhuleni. He was arrested on Friday after police were alerted to a man who was allegedly in possession of explosives at a residential property in the area.
A 33-year-old foreign national has been arrested after police allegedly found him in possession of military-grade explosives in Malvern East, Ekurhuleni.
He was arrested on Friday after police were alerted to a man who was allegedly in possession of explosives at a residential property in the area.
Acting on the information, police conducted an operation and descended on the identified house. During the search, police discovered military explosives, leading to the immediate arrest of the suspect.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the type or quantity of explosives recovered, nor the suspect’s motive for possessing them. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Germiston Magistrate’s Court in due course, where he will face charges related to the possession of military explosives.
