The Department of Basic Education is preparing to officially unveil the 2025 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examination results, marking a pivotal moment for hundreds of thousands of matriculants across South Africa.
The Department of Basic Education is set to officially release the 2025 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examination results on Monday. Minister Siviwe Gwarube will lead the announcement and present an overview of national performance trends for the Class of 2025.
Gwarube said more than 920,000 candidates across the country sat for the 2025 NSC examinations, making it one of the largest assessment exercises ever conducted nationally. She said the announcement signals the conclusion of a rigorous and closely monitored process encompassing the writing of exams, marking, quality assurance and standardisation.
According to the Education Department, the results will then be made available to accredited newspapers for publication on 13 January 2026.
The department said the results will be made available in the same pseudonymised format used in recent years, displaying examination numbers and results only, with no names, surnames, or ID numbers.
The department’s Director-General is also expected to deliver a comprehensive technical briefing on the 2025 examination cycle. This will cover system preparedness, marking and moderation procedures, standardisation results, and measures implemented to safeguard the integrity of the examinations.
