Makhadzi brings One Woman Show to Emperors Palace in November
Limpopo-born music star Makhadzi is set to take her One Woman Show to Gauteng later this month, with the Emperors Palace concert coming days after the release of her new album.
Makhadzi is bringing her One Woman Show to Gauteng as she prepares for another major performance milestone at home in Limpopo.
The singer will headline the Road2 One Woman Show at Centre Court, Emperors Palace, in Kempton Park on Sunday, 29 November.
The concert comes less than a month before Makhadzi is scheduled to perform at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Christmas Eve, where the One Woman Show will also mark her 30th birthday.
The Gauteng event is expected to give fans an opportunity to experience music from different stages of Makhadzi’s career, including songs such as "Matorokisi”, “Sesi Ka Rose” and “Ghanama”.
From Botswana to South Africa
The One Woman Show concept began in Botswana in 2022 before Makhadzi brought the production to South Africa.
The first South African edition was staged at Peter Mokaba Stadium in 2024, with the singer sharing the stage with artists including Sho Madjozi, DJ Tira and Nkosazana Daughter.
The performance came during a significant period in Makhadzi’s career. She also won the BET Viewers’ Choice Award for Best New International Act that year.
Makhadzi has previously spoken about the significance of performing for audiences outside Limpopo and then returning to her home province to hear fans singing along to her Tshivenda songs.
“I sing in Tshivenda because it’s the language I grew up speaking and the language I reach for when I want to tell a story,” she said.
New album arrives before Gauteng show
The Emperors Palace concert will also come shortly after the release of Makhadzi’s latest album.
The album is scheduled for release on Friday, 27 November, two days before the Gauteng show. Its release date was moved from 13 November.
It follows Sesi Ka Rose, which won Best Traditional Music Album at the 2026 South African Music Awards.
For Makhadzi, the timing means fans attending the Kempton Park concert will have had just two days to become familiar with the new material.
“When I put out an album, I’m always curious about which song people will make their own,” Makhadzi said.
The singer said she was looking forward to seeing which songs audiences connect with once the album is released.
A stop on the road to Polokwane
The Emperors Palace performance forms part of the build-up to Makhadzi's Christmas Eve concert at Peter Mokaba Stadium on 24 December.
Organisers said the Gauteng show has been planned as a late-afternoon event, with doors opening at 4pm and the concert scheduled to begin at 5pm.
The Road2 One Woman Show will take place at Centre Court, Emperors Palace, 64 Jones Road, Kempton Park.
Tickets are listed from R250, with sales available through Webtickets and the event organiser's website.
For fans of Makhadzi, the two performances offer a chance to experience her catalogue in Gauteng before the One Woman Show returns to Limpopo for what is expected to be one of the highlights of her December calendar.
