The long-awaited murder trial involving the killing of South African rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and celebrity chef and entrepreneur Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane will resume in April 2027 after proceedings were postponed by the Durban High Court.
The trial, which began in October 2026, has heard testimony from more than 20 witnesses as the State builds its case against seven men accused of orchestrating and carrying out the February 2023 killings.
Evidence presented in court so far includes video footage, vehicle-tracking records, ballistic findings and financial transactions.
The accused are Lindokuhle Thabani Mkhwanazi, Lindani Zenzele Ndimande, Siyanda Eddie Myeza, Mziwethemba Harvey Gwabeni, Lindokuhle Lindo Ndimande, Siyabonga Gezani Ndimande and Malusi Dave Ndimande.
They face a range of charges, including conspiracy to commit murder, two counts of murder, multiple counts of attempted murder and offences relating to firearms and ammunition.
Forbes and Motsoane were shot dead outside a restaurant on Florida Road in Durban on 10 February 2023. Their killings sent shockwaves across the country, particularly within the music and entertainment industries.
The court has scheduled the next sitting for 12 April to 14 May 2027, when the State is expected to continue presenting evidence.
All seven accused will remain in custody pending the continuation of the trial.
