Four arrested after police uncover suspected drug laboratory in Hartbeespoort
Four people have been arrested and four firearms seized after an intelligence-driven operation at a plot in Scheerpoort, near Hartbeespoortdam, uncovered what police believe to be a drug laboratory.
Four suspects have been arrested and four firearms seized following an intelligence-driven police operation at a property in Scheerpoort, near Hartbeespoortdam, North West on Tuesday.
The seized firearms include one rifle and three handguns.
Hartbeespoortdam SAPS Crime Prevention members received information about suspected illegal activities at the property before sharing the information with Brits Crime Intelligence and the Hartbeespoortdam K9 unit for further verification.
Police members arrived at the identified address on Tuesday morning, where they found three women and one man.
A search of the premises allegedly uncovered a drug laboratory, including processed drugs, a drug production mixture and equipment believed to have been used in the manufacturing of drugs.
The suspects, a 39-year-old Zimbabwean national and three women aged between 23 and 29, were arrested.
They face charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, as well as dealing in and manufacturing drugs in terms of the Drugs and Drug Trafficking Act.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Brits Magistrates’ Court.
Police investigations are continuing, including efforts to establish the value of the drugs seized during the operation.
