Brown Mogotsi remains behind bars after bail hearing postponed to 22 June
Brown Mogotsi will remain in custody after his case was postponed to 22 June, when his legal team is expected to present new evidence in support of a fresh bail application.
Alleged political fixer Brown Mogotsi will remain behind bars after his matter was postponed to 22 June, with his legal team preparing to present what it describes as new facts in support of a renewed bail application.
On Friday Mogotsi appeared at Johannesburg Magistrate’s court to appeal a decision denying him bail.
He was previously denied bail after the court found that he had not been truthful and accurate regarding his residential address. The court also expressed concerns that he could evade trial if released, leading to the refusal of his bail application.
During the latest court proceedings, Mogotsi's legal representatives indicated that they have obtained new information which they believe could address the court's concerns and justify a reconsideration of bail.
He is facing charges including unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, perjury, and defeating the administration of justice.
He was arrested last month in connection with allegedly staging his own assassination attempt last year.
Mogotsi remains in custody.
