Umalusi has announced that the 2025 National Senior Certificate (NSC) results will be released on 12 January 2026, with the official announcement to be delivered that evening by Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube.
This announcement comes following successful completion of the 2025 matric exams, which over 927,000 candidates wrote between 21 October and 28 November 2025.
According to Umalusi, marking and quality‑assurance procedures are proceeding on schedule; the marking phase began in November and concluded this month, and final approval is expected by early January.
Learners will be able to access their individual results from the morning of 13 January 2026. Results can be obtained via their schools, SMS, USSD, or through the Department of Basic Education (DBE) website.
Supplementary exams for those who want to improve their results are planned for May/June 2026 giving learners a second chance.
As 2026 gets underway, attention now turns to the national pass rate, which Minister Gwarube will reveal when the results are released.
