Eleven people have been confirmed dead after a truck carrying a container collided with a fully loaded minibus taxi on the R102 in Isipingo, prompting road closures and an ongoing investigation.
Eleven people have died on Thursday morning following a collision between a truck carrying a container and a fully loaded minibus taxi on the R102 in Isipingo, Durban.
In a statement Arrive Alive said emergency services rushed to the scene and the area has since been declared an active crime scene. Paramedics attended to the injured, who were stabilised on site before being transported to nearby medical facilities for further treatment.
The collision resulted in the closure of the R102, causing major traffic disruptions in the area. Police and forensic teams are conducting investigations to determine the exact cause of the crash.
Authorities have urged motorists to avoid the area, expect significant delays and make use of alternative routes while emergency operations and investigations continue.
