A Zimbabwean couple was arrested in Galeshewe, Kimberley, for allegedly running an illegal pharmacy and selling marijuana. Police seized unregistered medicines, dagga worth R90,000, and R180,000 in cash suspected as crime proceeds. The 34-year-olds face drug and medicine charges and will appear in court on 13 October 2025.
A couple from Zimbabwe were arrested in Galeshewe, Kimberley, Northern Cape, for running an illegal pharmacy and reportedly selling marijuana.
In a statement police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Tebogo Thebe said the Kimberley Public Order Police and the Hawks received a tip-off and they discovered unregistered medicines and seized R180,000 in cash, suspected to be proceeds from illegal activities.
The couple, both aged 34, faces charges under the Medicines and Related Substances Control Act, which regulates the sale and distribution of medicines in South Africa .
In the same yard the authorities found dagga with an estimated value of R90 000.
The couple is scheduled to make their first court appearance on Monday, 13 October 2025, at the Kimberley Magistrate Court.
Investigations are underway.
