Vusumuzi Matlala’s fraud case postponed to February 2027 for financial investigations
Businessman Vusumuzi Matlala, his wife and two co-accused will return to court on February 11, 2027, as investigators continue probing allegations of fraud, forgery and the use of falsified documents to secure a property lease in Pretoria.
The fraud case against businessman Vusumuzi Matlala, his wife Tsakani Matlala and two co-accused has been postponed to February 11, 2027, for further financial investigations.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirmed the postponement on Thursday, October 29.
Vusumuzi Matlala, 50, Tsakani Matlala, 38, Claudette Masethe, 31, and Given Makofane, 46, face two counts of fraud, two counts of uttering and one count of forgery.
Vusumuzi Matlala faces an additional charge of contravening the Identification Act.
The charges relate to allegations that the four accused acted with a common purpose in January 2025 to falsify documents to secure a lease agreement for a property in Waterkloof Heights, Pretoria, through a real estate agent.
The NPA further alleges that between January 13 and 21, 2025, Vusumuzi Matlala unlawfully possessed an identity document issued in the name of Vusumuzi Dlamini.
The document allegedly purported to associate him with the Eswatini Royal House and was allegedly used in connection with securing the property lease.
The matter has been postponed to allow further financial investigations to be conducted.
